Adult Music Ministry

Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation.
Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song.
Psalm 95: 1-2 niv

Music is a gift from God, and as we know gifts come in all shapes and sizes. At Central you are invited and encouraged to offer your musical gifts. All that’s required is a love of music and a willingness to serve the Lord with your gifts. For more information on any of our music programs please contact our
Director of Music Lee Smoot

Lee Smoot has been the Director of Music Ministries at Central Presbyterian Church since 1991. She holds music degrees from Salem College and the University of Colorado-Boulder. In addition to directing the choirs and worship planning, she is the lead singer in the Left Hand Gospel Band. She enjoys making music with all ages and loves to perform whenever she has the chance.

Chancel Choir
Our Chancel Choir is a wonderful and committed group of singers who help to lead worship each week at our 8:30 traditional service. This choir is open to adults of any age; high school students are also welcome. We meet on Thursdays from 7:00 - 8:30 in the choir room from September through May. In addition to Sunday worship services, the Chancel Choir participates in special services throughout the year. This is a non-auditioned choir and all are welcome!

The Belles
The Belles is Central’s handbell quartet. This quartet also rings in worship services throughout the year. On occasion The Belles have also played at local schools for a handbell demonstration and workshop.

Praise Team
Our Praise Team leads the congregational music at the 11:00 Hallelujah Service on Sunday mornings. We welcome singers and instrumentalists. Come join us and offer your musical gifts in service to the Lord. We meet to rehearse on Sunday mornings at 10 a.m.

Instrumentalists
Do you play an instrument? There are always opportunities to share your musical gifts during the worship services as a soloist, as part of an ensemble, or as an accompaniment to a choir.

Left Hand Gospel Band
The Left Hand Gospel Band has been helping with worship at Central since 1992. We named ourselves after Left Hand Creek, which runs through the town of Longmont. (Any reference to Mathew 25:41 is accidental and unintended.)

Our six-member group plays sacred roots music. A lot of people would say we play bluegrass, but bluegrass musicians will note that we don’t have a banjo. We play folk music, bluegrass songs, some modern a cappella arrangements, and an old hymn or two.

We love traveling to churches up and down the Front Range and playing for folks there. Sacred music can help us open our own doors up and let the Holy Spirit in. We thank our Lord and Savior for the gift of song. We aim to use that gift to enable people to see Him more clearly, and to bring them closer to God. And we hope our music shows that “Presbyterian Gospel Band” is not an oxymoron.
