KIDS HOPE Resource Library ~
Do you have educational books, games, or teacher resources that you could donate or lend to the KIDS HOPE Resource Library? This will be available for the entire church to access. Contact Lori West.
After returning from National Director’s Training for KIDS HOPE USA, I feel equipped for the task ahead of us as a church body, and eager to get the program off the ground and running. KIDS HOPE is more than one of the best mentoring programs in the nation; it is a ministry with an incredible vision to reach as many at-risk students in public elementary schools as is humanly possible. And when at-risk kids are touched, so are their families. The possibility of having life-changing impact is very real.
I am sure you are wondering how this will all work and what you can do. More of the organization will be communicated in the coming weeks, so be sure to read the church bulletins and watch for church emails. For now, if you are a church member, think about becoming a mentor or a prayer partner for a mentor. You will be well trained, screened, and supported before you step foot into Northridge Elementary. A mentor will spend one hour a week with a student that has been referred to KIDS HOPE via the school and has parent permission to participate in the program. All mentoring takes place on school grounds during school hours. If you are a prayer partner, you will be praying for the mentor and the child during the mentoring hour and of course throughout the week. The total time commitment for mentors is approximately 35 hours over the course of 9 months.
YOU can be the ONE to change a life!
Feel free to contact me with any questions you may have and peruse the KIDS HOPE website at www.kidshopeusa.org.
Grace and Peace,
Lori West, your KIDS HOPE USA Director
